The Pedagogical Council is the pedagogical management body of the University, respecting the strategic guidelines of the University Council and the competences of the Rector.
1. In general, the Pedagogical Council is responsible for promoting the development and innovation of the University's pedagogical activities, the articulation of teaching, research and extension activities, curricular integration and the development of students' competences, in accordance with the present Statutes and the applicable Regulations.
2. In particular, the Pedagogical Council is responsible for
- To draw up the University's pedagogical activities plan, promote its implementation and ensure its evaluation;
- To promote the development of teachers' pedagogical and didactic skills, in accordance with the requirements of contemporary university pedagogy;
- To issue an opinion on the regulations and curricular plans of the courses;
- To give its opinion on the allocation of curricular units to teachers, the curricular unit programs, the evaluation of teaching activities, and the teachers' performance;
- To decide on the calendar of each academic year of the Uni-CV;
- To monitor the implementation of the pedagogical activities plan, in liaison with the course coordination structures;
- To organize the monitoring and the technical-pedagogical support to teachers and students, ensuring an innovative curricular management and the maximization of the academic results;
- Promote forums for discussion, dissemination of studies and dissemination of good practices in the pedagogical field and seek solutions to problems of a pedagogical-didactic nature;
- To pronounce and issue suggestions about the use of common services existing in the Uni-CV, in order to promote the quality of pedagogical activities;
- To give its opinion about the organization and orientation of the activities of the Academic, Social Action, Technical and other Services that contribute to the quality of education and the academic success of students;
- To present and propose to the competent entities the support to pedagogical, extension and or circum-school projects;
- To approve the respective Regulations and submit them to the University Council for ratification; and
- To perform other functions that may be assigned to it under the terms of the regulations or by deliberation of the University Council.
3. The powers of the Pedagogical Council shall be exercised, at the level of Faculties and Schools, by Pedagogical Committees specialized according to the subject matter, under the terms and conditions to be defined in the University's organic regulations, internal regulations, and deliberations of the Pedagogical Council.
4. Without prejudice to the provisions of the previous number, the specialized Pedagogical Committees shall be responsible for assessing and issuing opinions on course curricular projects, curricular unit programs, faculty performance evaluation processes, plans and reports on academic activities of the Colleges and Schools, and other matters submitted to them by the Presidents of these organic units.
5. The specialized Pedagogical Committees may cover one or more Schools or Faculties, depending on the affinities of these organic units and on the existing conditions, under the terms mentioned in the final part of the previous number.
6. Without prejudice to their connection to the Pedagogical Council, the specialized Pedagogical Commissions exercise their attributions in articulation with the internal bodies of the Colleges and Schools.
Code of Conduct
Respecting the code of conduct is a commitment from everyone
Not to possess and not to consume illicit substances, not to consume alcoholic beverages and not to promote any form of trafficking, facilitation and consumption of the same in the spaces of the University;
- To strictly respect the start and end times of the classes;
- Comply scrupulously with their workload;
- To hand in the evaluation tests within the requested deadlines;
- Establish with students a relationship of trust that fosters absolute respect for personal dignity, self-esteem, and integral development;
- To make every effort to ensure that the assessment of students reflects their true merits, not allowing personal relationships to influence academic responsibilities (teaching, assessment, supervision);
- Denounce the use of means and artifices that might defraud the evaluation of student performance;
- Exercise student teaching and evaluation without interference from personal or ideological disagreements.
- In case of justified delay, the lecturer may teach the class, provided that with the consent of the totality of the students who are present at the moment the class begins;
- The teacher who contradicts the provisions in the previous paragraph may be the object of a complaint to be presented to the Course Coordinator;
During the classes the teacher is subject to the following rules:
- He/she may not leave the classroom, except for reasons of force majeure, and must communicate the fact to the students, presenting an estimate of the time of absence, with an indication of the activities to be developed by the class during the absence;
- During class, cell phones must remain in silent, non-vibrating mode, except in an extraordinary situation, communicated in advance to everyone;
- To respect the teaching staff as persons endowed with knowledge and experience and invested with a special authority to conduct the teaching-learning process;
- To respect the non-teaching staff and follow the guidelines given by them in the course of their duties;
- Respect other students and their right to education;
- Be assiduous and present themselves punctually to the teaching activities, following them attentively and observing the orientations of the teachers in the promotion of their education;
- Perform the tasks and academic work required in the curricular units;
- Present yourself personally to the evaluation tests, not practicing and preventing academic fraud;
- In case he is more than 15 minutes late, he may attend the class, provided that duly authorized by the teacher, without disturbing the course, avoiding noise or conversations with colleagues;
- The student who enters the classroom without the consent of the teacher, contrary to what is stipulated in paragraph g, may be subject to disciplinary measures;
- The student must not leave the classroom during class, but may do so with the permission of the teacher and for reasons of force majeure;
During class the student is subject to the following rules:
- He/she must refrain from any attitude that distorts the objectives of the class or jeopardizes the cordial atmosphere necessary for interpersonal communication and teamwork, in particular the use of terms and gestures that are known to be inelegant, insulting or offensive;
- The use of personal computers during class is only allowed if within the scope of class activities;
- During class, cell phones must remain on silent mode, not vibrating, except in an extraordinary situation, communicated in advance to everyone;
- Teachers, students, and non-teaching staff may not enter, circulate, or remain within the University premises wearing inappropriate clothing, or in clothes that reveal intimate parts of the body, in an attitude that is offensive to modesty.
- No attire, clothing, or props that may hinder interpersonal communication or academic activities, such as hats, caps or caps, helmets, sunglasses, or any other form of partial or full head and/or face covering, are allowed in class;
- The clothing mentioned in the previous number can only be used when appropriate to the university activity, namely in shows, laboratories, study visits or field activities, when requested by the person in charge of the event or by the teacher, and only the models approved by the University bodies;
- The use of objects or devices that may hinder interpersonal communication, such as headphones and earplugs, is not allowed in classes, unless they are necessary for the development of the class and explicitly requested by the teacher.
- Noise production in the university space must be kept to the minimum levels necessary and compatible with the university activity.
- The tone of conversations must respect university activities, particularly in the proximity of classrooms, laboratories, faculty offices, and administrative services offices.
- Teachers, students and non-teaching staff have the duty to present themselves at the University sober,
- Members of the University are not allowed to perform tasks under the influence of alcoholic beverages or narcotic substances.
- Members of the University who present themselves in a state of manifest lack of sobriety shall be barred entry to the premises of the Institution.
- All faculty members, students, employees and visitors are required to carry identification documents when in the University premises;
- Identification must be presented when requested by any agent of the university, and the agent must state the reasons for the request;
