Erasmus+ helps organize exchanges of university students and doctoral candidates between countries under the program and between them and partner countries.

Opportunities to study abroad are open to students at undergraduate and master's level and to doctoral candidates.

This mobility program can comprise one or more of the following activities:

Student Mobility:

Student mobility can take place in any study area/academic discipline. To ensure high quality mobility activities with maximum impact for students, the mobility activity has to be compatible with the learning and personal development needs corresponding to the student's degree.

Students may carry out one or a combination of the activities described below:

  • a study period abroad at a partner higher education institution (HEI);

a study period abroad may also include an internship period. This combination creates synergies between academic and professional experience abroad and can be organized in different ways, depending on the context: either one activity after the other or both at the same time. The combination of the two activities is subject to the same rules regarding funding and minimum duration as mobility for study purposes.

  • an internship (work experience) in a company or any other relevant workplace abroad. This includes Digital Opportunity Internships for students and recent graduates to develop or acquire digital skills. Internships in a workplace abroad are supported during short-cycle studies (first, second and third cycles) and, in the case of mobility between program countries, for up to one year after the student's degree. This also includes the status of " assistant " for teachers in training..

Wherever possible, the traineeship should be an integral part of the student's study program.

Staff mobility:

  • • Teaching periods: this activity allows HEI teaching staff members or staff from companies to teach at a partner HEI abroad. Staff mobility for teaching purposes can take place in any field of study/academic discipline.
  • • Training periods: this activity contributes to the professional development of HEI teaching and non-teaching staff as well as to the development of the institutions involved. It may take the form of training events abroad (except conferences) and training or job shadowing/observation periods at a partner HEI or other relevant organization abroad.
